What overclocking programs do people here recommend?

I'm hoping to overclock my CPU soon, I would like somthing similar to msi afterburner. There is a surprising lack of well known overclocking software for linux as because we are pc enthusiasts that would probably mean a much higher percentage of the user base in Linux would get the software compared to other OSes.(If there aren't any good software it's not a big deal i'll just use the bios, I normally use software to find approximately the clocks i'll get while being stable and use bios for fine tuning)

Actually, I rarely overclock. When I do, I do not need special software. There are applicable kernel parameters that one can tune to overclock without any special software.

Hardware overclocking, assuming you have the right hardware, can be done in the firmware settings (bios) as illustrated at this site: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OverclockingCpu

A bit of a search should result in many other pages about overclocking linux machines. ALL of them will say that it is not generally recommended. The results are rarely worth the risk, and buying better, faster hardware can be much more productive in the long run.
