what linux to use with wifi
 
i would like to find a linux distro that i can use as a media player that would link up to a wifi network with windows xp on the oth pc,s

You can do that with any of the current distros out there. It's all of a matter of what you want more of: stability, speed, device support etc. You can go to these sites for more information on the different distros:

You might also want to check on your wireless card before picking a distro. The HCL on this site is a good place to start to find out whether you're actually going to have support for your card, and what drivers it will need. But, as previously posted, it's all down to personal preferences - read the reviews linked to before, and also check the sticky's in various forums for pros+cons of each distro. There might also be something under the Tutorials section for what you wish to achieve :)
