what is "verbose" - in man cc

Hey guys!

I am running a derivative of RH and in the manual page for 'cc' I noticed a '-v' option and have no idea what it means. It said "Be verbose". Can anyone fill me in? Thanks!

Have you tried looking verbose up in a dictionary? http://www.thefreedictionary.com/dict.asp?Word=verbose

Basically you get a lot more words on the terminal as output of the program - you can often use it to diagnose why something isn't working as it should, and most CLI programs have a verbose option.
