I've been watching some YouTube video on Google's Chrome OS, and it's based on Linux. Does this mean we can consider it a Linux distro?
What exactly is the work that Google's done?
They say they've got the boot time down to 6 or 7 secs. , IIRC, what's going on inside the thing?
I've read about it, but I wouldn't actually consider it an OS or even a threat to other OSs, unlike what the news said.
AFAIK it's basically just a bootable web browser. No text editor, word processor, image editor, or anything. Nor does it have a way to store documents.
Why do I get the feeling that since it is Google, it most likely also tracks everything you do online and then phones home to the mothership so they can bombard you with targeted advertising?

Or am I just being overly paranoid?
Well of course it will do that and of course their will be a way to block it.
well, I really was wanting more of a discussion on what's INSIDE the thing. HOW exactly did they get the boot time down to that little? Is the filesystem ext4 or one of the normal Linux ones or have google done their own? What's the device driver model? These are the questions which popped into my head.
