What is /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:00.0/resource0

Does anyone know anything about these files which are each occupying a massive 46% (256Mb) of my / partition?

/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:00.0/resource0
/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/0000:02:00.0/resource1

Are they file interfaces to my graphics card or something? Nothing that can be done about their size?

As I understand it, the /sys content is "virtual" in the sense that although files appear to be on the disk, and appear to have sizes and content, they are actually generated dynamically by the system - similar to the files in /proc. So although they may appear to occupy space, they actually don't (apart from the /sys mount point perhaps).

I'll be amazed if that turns out not to be the case :-)

The files show information about various kernel subsystems. In particular, you can find out about hardware devices attached to various busses, and their settings - so yes, your graphics card would be included, but there's a lot more there besides.

HTH,
-nick
