what is localhost.localdomain?
 
what is localhost.localdomain? can i change it to say something else like LINUXBOX1 for example?

localhost.localdomain is only your own identification, maybe changeable ... but I still do not see the point.

the point?? so you can be recognised on a network....

"hostname the_name_you_want"

should do the trick.
