what is kded.....?

Everytime I reboot my computer, I get a process named "kded" running that takes between 20-30% CPU, making the computer very slow. I kill it and all is ok after that. Does anyone know what starts that process (I am assuming KDE) and what is its function?

Mandriva 10.1

Re: What is kded

I have no clue, but I did a google/linux search for it & got 17,000 hits. I'd bet one of them would explain it to you.

According to the output of 'kded --help':
KDE Daemon - triggers Sycoca database updates when needed
And if you're wondering about Sycoca, it's KDE's System Configuration Cache.
