what is difference between "source command " and " . command"


what is different ?

When I excute the "man source", and "man ." are same..

Is it same ? or not ??

If it is different , what is it ??

In the bash they are same, but source is bash-ism.
Other shells (ash is one example) has '.' but don't have 'source'

'source' is more readable, but '.' is more portable
