What is accepting input from IR?!

Edit: Sorry, I posted this in the Software forum by accident. It should be in Hardware but I don't think I can delete/move it.

Hi all,

I'm attempting to set up XBMC on Ubuntu 10.04.1 with a Hauppauge Nova-TD-500 TV card used only for it's infrared receiver.

I have installed the TV card successfully (despite strange warm restart issues) and I'm trying to set up LIRC to accept the IR input.

However, after the TV card is started up and without LIRC running, some of the buttons on the remote control work. Unfortunately the OK button doesn't, and a few of the others don't either.

I'm assuming the IR receiver has set its self up as an input device (such as a keyboard) and it's running in that way, but I cannot get LIRC to grab the input instead.

How can I find out what program/module is accepting input from the IR receiver and stop it in order to allow LIRC exclusive access to the input device?

Cheers

Here is a tutorial for setting up lirc. I hope it helps solve your problem.

Thanks for that, I hadn't seen that tutorial, but it doesn't help with my predicament.

I've got lirc set up, but I can't get it to listen on the IR device because something else is accepting the input from it first.
