When I had dialup I used kppp. It was simple and easy to use and setup.

I suppose that depends on whether you have the libraries installed which are needed by kppp. Usually KDE and Gnome libraries are installed because you never know what libraries a program will want. I have run kppp in Gnome without any problem but I have both Gnome and KDE installed.

Yeah. This is really the main problem when you want to dial up in linux. Since I'm using WindowMaker and I only installed gnome, I don't want to install kde just to use kppp. Still have to use terminal to wvdial to internet.

I got gtkdial when I was looking but it didn't work when I installed it it couldn't find some of its own components if somebody else gets it working tell me.....I had to do a reinstall on my linux anyway I accidentally deleted something I shouldn't have when in root (oops) I put kde on it this time to so I'll try kppp....do you have to set up ppp before you do kppp though?

Yes, you'll have to open kppp and setup the device, phone number, username, password, etc.

i used to installed all the necessary packages for kde just to use kppp. No doubt it's the best dialer, but i figured it's a bit too much for me. So i used wvdial instead. A simple console dialer, works really well. U need the wvstream installed first. google for the latest copy, they have 1.54 now.
