The term is not " a Active Directory," but rather, " Active Directory."
Which is basically Microsoft's trademark for their implementation of LDAP.
I have bookmarked these two phrases to Wikipedia pages. (Start with the one on LDAP.)
Now to set the stage: "You work as the systems administrator for a hospital that has 8,653 computers, of all different types (including mainframes). You have just been told that 'anyone must be able to use any computer anywhere anytime,' and that their access privileges everywhere must be the same. And by the way, Mary Lou Smith wants to change her password..." Remembering that "there is only one of 'you'" (and that Federal regulations such as HIPAA might put you in-the-slammer if your solution is insecure), consider how you might go about solving this problem.
