What content management or file management software is best for the job?

Dear friends,

I am currently trying to figure out whats the best content management or document management software to do the job for my company. I have tried the demo for knowledgetree and mambo. Both are quite different.

Mainly for my purpose is to have a file management system, that is able to provide the following features:

- upload and download files
- set permissions for files
- permissions for groups
- authenticate by LDAP
- backup

Mambo seems to be more about providing convenient for those who doesn't know html, and it seems not to do much with file management such as upload, download , managging those files etc.

Knowloedgetree looks more like a tool specific for file management. I wish to know if there are any other better products for doing this file managing purpose?
If yes, please direct me to that....thanks for taking time reading my mail..

While I have no firsthand experience, Xoops looks good.
