What are MJPEG-tools? How do I use them?

Hello forum,

I noticed that I have MJPEG-tools installed on my copy of Mandriva 2006 but I don't see any apparient reference to this in the start menu or anywhere else.

According to the description in the "remove software" menu, it reads:

"MJPEG-tools are a basic set of utilities for recording, editing, playing back and encoding (to mpeg) video under linux. Recording can be done with zoran-based MJPEG-boards (LML33, Iomega Buz, Pinnacle DC10(+), Marvel G200/G400), these can also playback video using the hardware. With the rest of the tools, this video can be edited and encoded into mpeg1/2 or divx video".

My question would be, What would I have to do to use these tools to capture video and play it back on Mandriva, assuming my capture card is compatable?

Thanks much in advance,
Roy S. Smith
