what's wrong with my Gaim?
Just now I wanted to update my gaim from 0.64 to 0.66. I downloaded the newest version. And I forgot to uninstall the old one before I came to install 0.66.
And then It gave me some words. UnfortunateIy I forgot them. When I make gaim command it did not work anymore. It tells me the the gaim is not installed. Then I re-installed the gaim. But everything goes the same. It still does not work.
Would anyone please tell me what to do now?
Thanks!

If you did an "rpm -e gaim" then you uninstalled something. How did you reinstall GAIM?

type "locate gaim" after you uninstall it, and see if it picks up any config files or anything that may be corrupted which in turn may be causing the new version to crash....

I double clink the gaim-devel-0.66-1mdk9.1.i586.rpm and then It install itself.
It's OK In RedFlag Linux.

hey,
a quick way to check this is:
$ rpm -qa | grep -i gaim
This should give you the gaim package(s) you have installed.
Then remove them, e.g.:
$ rpm -e gaim-0.66
$ rpm -e gaim-0.64
(if you find two). And then reinstall:
$ rpm -ihv <blah>
Also, if you're just clicking on an icon from one of the bars, try starting
gaim from the command line and see if it gives you any messages:
$ gaim
Good luck,

when I install the gaim It do not mention that I need to install anything else.
DrOzz, I did "locate gaim" and it shows me these:
[root@zhengfa2 root]# locate gaim
/home/d/gaim-devel-0.66-1mdk9.1.i586.rpm
/root/.kde/share/cache/http/p/prdownloads.sourceforge.net_gaim_gaim-0.66-1rh9.i386.rpm_208e4b0f
/root/.kde/share/cache/http/p/prdownloads.sourceforge.net_gaim_gaim-0.66-1rh9.i386.rpm_465531db
/root/.kde/share/cache/http/p/prdownloads.sourceforge.net_gaim_gaim-0.66.tar.gz_204e0844
/root/.kde/share/cache/http/h/heanet.dl.sourceforge.net_sourceforge_gaim_gaim-0.66.tar.gz_59c3388e
/root/.kde/share/cache/http/h/heanet.dl.sourceforge.net_sourceforge_gaim_gaim-0.66-1rh9.i386.rpm_4c1edca7
/root/.gaim
/root/.gaim/smileys
/root/.gaim/prefs.xml
/root/.gaim/blist.xml
/root/.gaimrc
/usr/lib/gaim
/usr/lib/libgaim-remote.la
/usr/share/doc/gaim-devel-0.66
/usr/share/doc/gaim-devel-0.66
/usr/share/sounds/gaim
/usr/include/gaim-remote
/usr/include/gaim-remote/remote-socket.h
/usr/include/gaim-remote/remote.h
/mnt/WinC/gaim-0.66-1rh9.i386.rpm
/mnt/WinC/gaim-0.66.tar.gz
[root@zhengfa2 root]#

why are you installing both mandrake AND red hat rpms on the same box??
figure out what distro yours is based on and stick to that one.
