what's with all the missing pkgconfig files in FC1??

has anyone else noticed that a lot of the pkgconfig files for various libraries are nonexistent in FC1?

trying to compile rhythmbox 6.7 from sources results in endless missing .pc files which means having to download (am i wrong in doing this?) all the sources for the libraries and compiling them - which again may result in dependencies - and so the cycle goes on :tisk:

does anyone know why this is so and what i can do about it?

cheers :D

Did you install the development version of the libraries? They'll be called something like lib-thing-numbers-dev.rpm, libgtk+-2.0_dev, that sort of thing. But don't let me put you off working from the source. Go with what works.

YEAH!!

:D
I had almost figured something like that!! :p
thanxalot - i guess i do need to install all the devel rpms. synaptic takes care of the dependencies as well. :)
