What's The Difference Between a PPA and a PPA (Sources)?
In Mint 17.3, I have three PPA's with two choices each.
It has the PPA, then the PPA (Sources). Looks like this; Name of the PPA Name of the PPA (Sources) Name of the PPA Name of the PPA (Sources) Name of the PPA Name of the PPA (Sources) I get a duplicate error. If I only want one of each, what's the difference and which one should be checked? Thank you, Chris. |
The ones saying "Sources" contain source files.

The PPAs contain the binaries, the Sources contain the source code if you need to compile it yourself. At least that's the theory, but with a PPA (accent on the PERSONAL) you can never be certain unless you manually check the files.

OK, thank you. This means if I added a piece of software, and it added it to the PPA, for me it would be non source. I uncheck them anyway, because I just wanted the program, not everything else after that.
