wget resume filename

I am using wget to download a file but i'm using '-O filename' too rename it to something other than the default (the default filename is a unreadable url that is too long for the filesystem to handle).

When needing to resume the file with -c, it starts at the beginning and doesn't use the data from the filename specified with -O. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this or is it a bug?

Did you test it with just one file? Maybe server doesn't support getting a file not from the beginning?

Does seem to be working with another file. Very annoying because I'm trying to watch hour long Google tech talks on a slow connection, its basically impossible to watch them streaming since I need to leave a browser window open for an hour and a half and watch it all at once. That last one I downloaded got about 1/2 way through then died.

Is the video supposed to be streamed? Does -c work with completely unrelated servers?

Maybe you need just to fight behavior of this server. Look at Coral (append .nyud.net:8080 to site domain; look up Coral Content Distribution Network (CDN) or Cobweb)
