The md5 sum should not change. It is the result of the end file. The "-c" allows wget to resumes as it left off.

how would I safley stop the file ?, so I can resume it later with wget. Currently i am just closing the terminal window.. And the file must be the same, its teh linux wolfenstine patch - and the installer ' verifiys the archives integrity ', and its not the same. The site also says the file is 73 megs, nautulus thinks its 75 megs..

I just use Ctrl+C. If the MD5 sum fails you will just need to download it again.
