Weird web browser behaviour while on VPN

Using OpenVPN, whenever I connect websites seem to load fine but I cannot click further once I load the website. For example dropbox.com or reddit.com will load instantly, but then when I click on a dropbox folder or reddit post it will just start loading and never finish.

I am using the very same OpenVPN profile on my Mac Pro and over there it works fine. Also connected to the same network.

My PC (which is having this issue) is a completely fresh Ubuntu 18.10 install, using Chrome (same problem on Firefox) and ethernet cable coming in from a Google Wi-Fi access point (connected to same access point with the Mac but over Wi-Fi).

Also I am able to ping IPs and domains from command line. Both work fine.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Is that a commercial VPN which uses openvpn protocol (such as Nord etc) , or are you using OpenVPN's services ?
