Weird:there is no Makefile for php5 installation

I downloaded php-5.0.5.tar.gz from the website that recommaned to.After tar and ./configure,I found that there is no Makefile file in it(with Makefile.frag, etc).I couldn't install php-5.

Did you try running make anyways. that seems pretty strange.. If the files exist you can run automake to generate them.

The following is message I got after issue "automake": `automake requires `AM_CONFIG_HEADER', not `AC_CONFIG_HEADER' automake requires `AM_PROG_LEX', not `AC_PROG_LEX'
automake: `AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE' must be used
automake: your implementation of AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE comes from an
automake: old Automake version. You should recreate aclocal.m4
automake: with aclocal and run automake again.
automake: no `' found or specified
