Weird sound/crash
I did a couple search's on this site for my problem, yet non were found.

Ok, I start up my comp, works great, I select redhat 9 from grub, works great, then my computer starts doin all the OK's and my enthernet card FAILS (not sure why) but then I put in my user name and password, everuthing is workin great.

BUT when I open any program this BEEPING sound keeps going on and on in a infinite loot, it soon crashes the comp requiring a reboot...

anyone have anything like that???

Thnx I would like some help.

1. What hardware do you use? Your Ethernet fails - what kind of a card is it and how is it configured?

2. Beeping that doesn't stop can indicate a lot of bad things hardware-wise. Many motherboards, like the NF7-S and related models from Abit, are known to beep like an ambulance when it's overheating (in the case of the NF7-S you need to update your BIOS).

1. Its a realtek Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC, I see RTL839 drivers on the selection for ethernet.

2. Its not a motherboard beep, its like a high pitch drum beat comin from the speakers in a infinite loop. Like someone was beatin on the bottom of a coffe can. As soon as I use a program it starts up... not even sure why! but then redhat slowly crashes at that point.

Redhat is on its own harddrive also.

Also it makes another sound sometimes then crashes.

Its like a bird noise...

Well I fixed the beep sound by new install.

But anyone got a tutorial on setting up internet with a linisys wireless router (oddly enough I dont have it hooked up wirelessly, but just str8 to the back>)
