Question weird problem with sound - not the usual stuff!!

hi everyone,

i have a really annoying problem with sound. i use linux mint 17 cinnamon, 3.13.0-24-generic.

when i play sound from banshee it is slightly, but undoubtly, distorted. as if it was overdriven, but with normal volume. if i, however, play from a different source (on the same audio output and speakers), like from youtube in firefox, everything is fine.

i noticed this problem the first time after i paired my soundbar with my pc through a bluetooth dongle (and playing music there via banshee). when i then switched back to my normal speakers the sound was distorted. first i thought my speakers were broken, but no, in windows everything was working fine.

it's hard to tell for me if the sound is also broken on my hdmi screen and the soundbar, when i play from banshee because the quality is not so good (hdmi screen), and the 3d sound on the soundbar makes it hard to recognise the distortion.

to sum up, before i paired my pc with a bluetooth dongle to my soundbar (and played music via banshee) all audio was perfectly fine. since then, when i play from banshee, the sound is distorted. from other sources, such as firefox, or vlc, the sound is fine.
i've also tried to reinstall banshee and pulseaudio, but to no avail.

any help would be appreciated, since i've no clue what is going on there.

check settings in pulseaudio volume control; no volume should be above 90%, except for the master output.

(does pulseaudio even have a master output?)

additionally, do the same for alsa (open terminal, type "alsamixer").
