Weird Mplayer crash...

I compiled and installed MPlayer on Slackware 9...

I can play divx movies ok. But when I press the 'pause' button, Mplayer crashes when I start playback again. Also, it crashes when switching to another .avi file...
This also happens for .mp3-files...

MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: unknown
- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and disassembly. For details, see DOCS/bugreports.html#crash.b.
- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read
DOCS/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug.

When using gdb, there are some lines saying:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.

Can anyone help me?

not a snowball in hell i'd say.... take the error messages advice and contact the mplayer-users list with a suitable bugreport. and of course try changing how you are using mplayer. different video output etc....

definitely sounds like a video output driver problem. Try from commandline

mplayer -vo help

That will list available drivers for you to try.

Try them all until you find a reliable one :)

Also make sure you're running a stable version OR the latest unstable (mplayer 1.0 pre2 at the moment I think).

Hi,

I have the same problem i am using MPlayer-1.0pre6a on a linux from scratch 6.0 build following the installation instrucions of beyond linux from scratch 6.0. I can open gmplayer, and play dvd's, but they play with a lagging speed kind of live when a dvd has smudges or scratches on them. I get the exact same message as you and it crashes when i right click the screen and try to open a file. I installed mplayer with the --enable-debug swith to configure, but I don't know how to read further into the problem. I also tried installing the current cvs and had the same problem. I am running xfree86 with the nvidia 2d accelerated graphics driver, and i was wondering if that is a problem. Mplayer seems to suggest using it, but I'm not sure if mplayer can't utilize the video memory correctly or what the case is. please help me, and give me any advice on how to send a bug report to mplayer or how to troubleshoot further. Thanks for reading.

thanks
