weird fluxbox problem
i'm using fluxbox v.0.1.14 with Redhat 9, and whenever i minimize something, it just "disappears." it seems to still be running, but i can find no evidence of the application anywhere, not in the taskbar, not alt + tabbing, etc. (i forget the command to find out what processes are running.) if i try to start mozilla again, though, it says it can't start it b/c it's already running.
if i exit to the GUI login screen, i can see the application again for a split second as it closes before fluxbox shuts down. so i also know they're running from that. btw, all this only started after i installed wallpaper, if that matters at all. they seem to be related, but i don't know what about bsetbg would cause that to happen -- maybe something to do with the screen resolution (1280 x 1024)? (i'm only throwing that out b/c the bsetbg file in my ~/.fluxbox directory said something about uncommenting out a line in the xli portion and changing -fillscreen to -fullscreen? not sure if that applies or not.) appreciate any help. edit: i took out the line to set background in the fluxbox init file, and deleted the bsetbg file, and it's still doing it. so i'm not sure if that is related (unless setting the bg caused changes elsewhere). thx |
I think Fluxbox 0.1.14 has the Toolbar modes. If so, you've probably changed it to a mode which doesn't show the currently minimised windows. :)

where would i check for the Toolbar mode, in the init file or somewhere else? all i have on the menu is "Tools," but no Toolbar option. edit: nevermind, i found it. :D it's the "use icons" setting on the configure menu, who knew? :p i guess i thought that related to actual *icons* (which i'm not using), so i must have turned it off at some point. thx :) |
Right click on the toolbar should bring the config menu up. If not you'll have to go edit ~/.fluxbox/init
My file for 0.9.3 has this relevant line: session.screen0.toolbar.mode: Icons |
thanks :)
