Weird bug - parts of GUI are just missing (Debian)

Hi,

I have a Core i5 computer with ob-board GPU. In some application, parts of the GUI are not rendered, instead having a blank grey background color. Clicking the mouse sometimes does activate the GUI widget (i.e. button) there, but it is not rendered. I encountered the problem in several applications, including DropBox, pgAdmin iii and valentina studio.

Here is an example: http://s17.postimg.org/6i2t5cff3/bug.jpg
You can see that dropbox doesn't show the list of folders to sync. Yet, I may elicit a response by clicking on the presumed location of the GUI widget.

The problem persists both in Gnome and XFCE. Changing Gnome theme didn't help either. I noticed that in the Advanced Settings window of Gnome I do have an exclamation mark near the "Shell theme" combobox and this combobox is grayed out.

What's more interesting, is that this problem appeared also on my previous Pentium Dual-Core E5700 machine, although there only in Valentina Studio and not in Dropbox.

I searched the internet and Debian bug sites but haven't found anything about this problem.

lspci output:
Code:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Haswell Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
	Subsystem: Giga-byte Technology Device d000
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 11
	Memory at f0000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4M]
	Memory at e0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M]
	I/O ports at f000 [size=64]
	Expansion ROM at <unassigned> [disabled]
	Capabilities: <access denied>
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

You'll get more information if you run lspci as root or use sudo, for example:
Code:
sudo lspci -v
jdk
