I'm trying to setup WebDAV, and have it setup so that I can read the shared directory OK.

However, I can not write or create files.

When I do, I get this error in the apache error_log:

[Tue Oct 28 16:37:30 2003] [error] [client <local IP>] client denied by server configuration: /path/to/file


All the permissions on the directory are as they should be (I think) - it's chowned apache and set to 777 for testing.

I can't find any other errors, and I get this error both with cadaver, and using Windows XP explorer.

Any help greatly appreciated.

The problem was that I had just set a simple:

<Location /foo>
Dav ON
</Location>

And apparently through inherited permissions in the apache config, this was not allowing writes. Adding:

AllowOverride None
Order allow,deny
Allow from all

to that Location directive fixed it.
