webcammax like software for linux

Looking for a program like webcammax for linux. I tried using the vloppback module but I had trouble compiling it on linux... and I'm not sure if it would work anyway.
The software doesnt have to be as feature full as webcammax, i just wanna setup a mpeg file or a image as a webcam. anything that would let me pipe video into /dev/video0 should work.
(for use with software like ekiga or just amsn for example)

You want to set a recorded image in place of realtime camera input?

yeah, pretty much
i searched through sourceforge and didn't find anything, though there are some programs that get cameras working as web cams by using the still images and piping them via vloopback. I might look through the code and see if i can hack that.
