Question WEBCAM related question

Hello !

I'm new to this forum, and i hope I'll be able to serve the linux's community thanx to my experience (3years).

But actually, I've one question i didn't solve yet...

I'd like to mimic what products like AXIS' network cameras does (see with a simple webcam and a linux server i would connect to using IE / Netscape or maybe netmeeting (using h323 protocol).

I precise that i want a 'real time view' of what my webcam is grabbing (so w3cam is not satisfying!). Then, my Linux server doesn't have X installed... (but if this become mandatory, i'd install it).

I simply don't know whether a software exists to achieve this.

If anyone as an idea/any experience about this...

Thank you very much.

you don't want to install X but you want to see what the cam picture is that is being grabbed?

yes and no.

I just want my server to grab things from my webcam. I don't need to see anything from it.

Then, I wan't to connect to it with IE or something else to view the capture.

W3CAM for example is a CGI script that runs a program which captures at regular intervals images from the webcam, which are then inserted in a HTML page. This page is "automagically" updated and you can see latest pictures.

I want the same but with real-time video.

Hoping things are much clearer, I thank you for ideas.

.... and sorry if my english is poor !!
