web forum

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this questions, but I hope it is becuase I am always finding great help from this website. My question is I need to build a web forum and I would preferably like to build it with php. Can some one please help me out. Also can It be done using regular html code. If not that is fine. I am trying to learn php though so If regular html can't do it I am not to concerend.

I haven't tried many but have a look at www.e107.org [Free!!!] , I have used it and found it quite easy to install,manage, and feature rich.

I have seen a lot of of such projects[cms] on www.sourceforge.net and www.freshmeat.net.
