web editor

where can i find a good web editor for mandrake 9, i've looked at vim.org but can't find the download for linux

vim is a text editor. sure you could use it to write web pages, but that might not be too much fun unless you were a vi expert. you probably already have it on your system -- type vim or vi at the command prompt.

what exactly do you mean when you say a web editor? a wysiwyg tool like dreamweaver or bluefish, or do you have something else in mind?

http://www.vim.org/download.php

Download the UNIX source. Works for Linux.

Mandrake should provide vim in the default installation. Type vim at the command-line

Specifically Vim 6.1

if you want to use gvim (vim with gui), download the "vim-X11" package and install it. if you want to do webpages in a wysiwyg type of editor, mozilla comes with composer and can be accessed with the command like this depending on your install path of mozilla:

/usr/local/mozilla/mozilla -edit

i should have been more specific in my question but i do mean something like dreamweaver that allows you not only to create web pages but easily create and manage web sites, any sugestions?

Fuck vi/vim. Try Quanta.

synaptical 10-02-2003 10:22 AM

yah, try quanta or bluefish.

simplico 10-02-2003 12:31 PM

fyi, quanta should be preinstalled on mandrake at least if u have kde >= 3.x.x. go to menu --> what to do? --> use the internet --> create webpages.
