Weather Apps (like KWeather) for Fluxbox

I have used KDE for a while, but have just recently switched over to using Fluxbox. One thing that I really miss from KDE is KWeather, though. Are there any programs out there that report current weather conditions in Fluxbox?

You can try looking for window maker applets. They will work in fluxbox amd usually includes few dependencies.

I dont have a specific answer but--in general--you can run KDE applications anywhere if you have the right libraries.
Here is a site with some clues:

Have a look at adesklets. There aren't as many choices as with superkaramba, but they do work with fluxbox.

Thank you, everyone, for the replies so far. I am still reading up on adesklets, and window makers makers seem to be a logical choice for fluxbox as well.

I just learned that fluxbox has a feature called the slit, which supports loading KDE applets. Is there some way to just load the kweather applet into the slit? I've done a lot of Googling, but can't really find any concrete examples on how to load a KDE applet into the slit...all I know is that the Fluxbox website says that "you can see KDE dockets, on the Fluxbox slit."

Shouldn't that mean I can just load kweather into the slit?

Also, I know that kweather is a KDE applet, but I can only find kweatherreport on my machine from the terminal:

Code:
locate kweather | less
So, if there is no command called kweather, then how does KDE launch this applet so that it lives in the tray?

Thanks again for the help!

Theres a weather monitoring plugin for GKrellM, it works well, espeically if you like to monitor your other stuff like CPU useage, hard drive access, network useage, proc useage, memory useage, temperature and fan speed readouts, battery power remaining, wireless lan strength, uptime, system time, and a slew of other stuff from plugins. Its basically just a bar thingy that sits over on one side of your screen and gives you a graph of all the stuff going on with your system at the time, very useful for those people who like to keep an eye on what their systems doing, as well as monitor random external stuff, including the weather, news, moon phases, whatever. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it. One of the coolest thingies for linux/unix I think.

kweather is launched with /opt/kde/bin/kweatherreport. not sure about how to launch it to the slit, if you even can. you might have to live with it minimizing to a small spot on the toolbar. in fluxbox, the adesklets app works for me. it would be better to use that or a wmaker app than kweather -- they take fewer resources.

edit: see it in action:

I had never heard of GKrellM until this post, and I agree--it's pretty cool. To my surprise, it was already installed on my system. So, I got the weather pluggin working quite quickly. This weather solution is a bit more minial compared to the kweather applet I was used to, but it gets the job done.

Thanks for the tip!
