So I have a CentOS 7 laptop and a USB TV tuner from Hauppauge. WinTV HVR 850. The tuner works just fine under Windows Media Manager when I boot into Windows.
Under CentOS 7, I got the firmware downloaded (indicated by the Software Manager) but now which application to launch that uses the TV tuner and lets me watch TV? From installed sound & video applications only SMPlayer seems to have an option for TV viewing but nothing happens when I choose the Play -> TV option.
What application do you guys use to watch TV on Linux, provided you already have the tuner? Or how to enable SMPlayer to use the TV tuner?

I use Kaffeine; it seems to work pretty well. You should read http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Ha..._WinTV-HVR-850 if you haven't already.

The pages at linuxtv are about the best.

You might also be able to run VLC but the setup is kind of complex.
