does that mean you are gonna take my idea seriously? it was a true idea that would be nice, but I never expected it to be considered.

i am taking it seriously, but its not gonna be done be october is all i can tell you :) learning about how to program with direct x and video cards is very diffrent from building a install shield

We both hope that I am right, since I'm following my self directions... ;-)
Still, rmartine is right: start with something you can understand. Don't drop completely the idea to start a project on your own, but remember to make it free: SourceForge is worth a try.
If you want a challenge, for example, try to have that "File Transfer" for ICQ working in Gaim!! (http://gaim.sourceforge.net/)

Good luck, and remember: the community is always here to help you!

Well it looks like you already have your hands full with suggestions but I wanna throw in here.

If you ever learn to program curses, a console/ncurses based front end to apt4rpm based on apt-cache search that has a similar functionality to synaptic would be the biz-omb. Synaptic is so heavy, we need a program like conectiva's aptitude.

I am also thinking of the install shield
My install shield? Linux does need 1.
