Weird. I'd have thought that the steps you have taken, would have fixed the issue.
Dumb question #1: have you restarted the browser?
Question #2 -- are you using the "Master Password" extension? I use that, and it asks me if yes/no to save the password.
If it comes down to wanting to try to delete your profile and see if that fixes the problem, then first install FEBE extension, and use that to backup all (I mean ALL) your settings & bookmarks before deleting stuff. FEBE is great. You can re-import everything piece by piece from the FEBE backup later if need be, including passwords, bookmarks, etc.
