Want to use Brasero to create a disk image of windows - is this a good idea?

I'm using Ubuntu 9.1 to try to make a disk image of my Windows operating system that I'd like to save to an external hard drive. Currently, I'm just running Ubuntu off the cd. Having checked the "Ubuntu Software Centre" on my computer, I notice that it has Brasero installed, and I was wondering:

1) First off, where can I find it? (Is there a search function in Ubuntu like Windows?)

2) Is Brasero a good choice to create a disk image?

You mean Brasero? To start it press Alt+F2, type brasero, press enter
Don't know of a find option for menus though.

If you want a CD/DVD image of a CD/DVD, then yes. If you need HDD image, then you should use another utility. Command-line-based one is dd. Don't know of any GUI ones...
