Want Debian linux equivalent to windows HyperTerminal

I need to do some serial comms work and need an equivalent to hyper terminal on Debian. Does it exist ?

Yes, it's called minicom.

For as far as I know minicom is terminal based and doesn't have a graphical interface. You can have a look at sourceforge.net for other alternatives.
