vsftpd Problems
 

I have been trying to set up vsftpd on my Fedora Core 4 installation. I have got it up and running, but im having trouble getting the local log-in to work. I tell the vsftpd.conf file to use local users but when I try to log-in to the ftp server I get a log-in failed. This only happens to local users but if i use the anon account it works fine. Any ideas on how to fix this.

I dont have a vsftpd.conf file in front of me, but there is a parameter that is something like "local_users=YES" or something that you need to set for local accounts to ftp in. You can paste your conf file here so we can take a look if you'd like.

Ya i know the option that you are talking about its "local_enable=YES" . I have changed that and uncommented it and still I get a log-in incorrect.

Here is the vsftpd.conf file as it sits now.

Comment out 'userlist_enable' and 'tcp_wrappers' and restart vsftpd.

Ok tryied that and it didn't work still get log-in failed.

Ahh, most likely it's this line giving you the problem:

You need to set some parameters in your /etc/pam.d/vsftpd file. Look on google and you'll find how others have done it.
