vSFTPd problem, cannot change directory...

I have read through numerous threads and still have not been able to come up with a solution to this problem. Here is what I am getting when I log in as a local user:

Status: Connecting to 192.168.0.106 ...
Status: Connected with 192.168.0.106. Waiting for welcome message...
Response: 220 (vsFTPd 2.0.4)
Command: USER danj
Response: 331 Please specify the password.
Command: PASS *******
Response: 500 OOPS: cannot change directory:/home/danj

Here is the vsftpd.conf configuration (Note that options marked in red where added for trying to get access to the server):

anonymous_enable=YES
local_enable=YES
write_enable=YES
local_umask=022
dirmessage_enable=YES
xferlog_enable=YES
connect_from_port_20=YES
xferlog_std_format=YES
chroot_list_enable=YES
chroot_list_file=/etc/vsftpd/chroot_list
chroot_local_user=YES

pam_service_name=vsftpd
userlist_enable=YES
listen=YES
tcp_wrappers=YES

The permissions for /home is 755 and the permissions for /home/danj is also 755. I am at a complete loss as to why I am getting the error message and why I can log in anonymously, but cannot log in as a user. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
