VSftpd cant login when using inetd, but can when using listen=YES

Im not sure why this is happening, Im using 1.2.2 version of vsftpd.

The server does allow connections, it just doesnt correctly validate username/password when the server is running from inetd. When in standalone mode everything is fine.

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers,
Tom
