Unhappy volume is lower after reinstall

Hello,

I recently upgraded from Mandriva Linux 2008.1 to 2009.1. Everything works fine except that the volume is not as loud as it used to be. I am using a laptop without a volume knob, I checked the volume in kmix and PCM is at 100%, the volume of amarok is also at its maximum, so that's not the problem.

Any ideas on what is going on and how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Check which output module are using, ALSA or OSS , but the PCM or Stereo output can be low even though the master volume it 100%

if this doesnt work try using 'aumix' to check the volume levels

This app is available via the Mandriva Package Manager, after installing it open terminal run 'aumix' , this app can be used to adjust all levels of output from the sound card. Worked when i used it on a media center.
