Question volume control kamix with its own spirit

unbelieveably often i have a problem doing conversations in skype since some problem re-adjusts the volume-options. sometimes i hear myself very loud, sometimes the other person cannot hear me or me him. every thinkable constellation. what could be the problem? kaffeine?
