Vncserver + Kde3.2 = problem

I used to have mandrake 9 and i decided install the new mandrake 10 (fresh install).

With mandrake 9.0 and vncserver i was able to connect from my windows machine (on LAN 100Mbps) and it took about 2-5 seconds for kde interface to load. And about the same thing for gnome. I was happy because i didnt need a monitor on my server and when i needed to acces the X desktop i was able to do it this way

now my problem is that with Mandrake 10 (kde 3.2), when i start vncserver and i connect from my windows machine with vncviewer, it takes 5-7 MINS (not sec) before the graphical interface is loaded in vnc. (locally i dont have this kind of problem)

I was very happy with mandrake 10 until i found this out.

Am i the only one in this case ? because i didnt find a lot of info on the subject.

thank you for helping me

P.S i tried vncserver 3 and 4 and i have the same problem

i think. The installation of mandrakew 10 installed my videocard drivers for me and when i see my haRDWARE LIST I SEE "nVIDIA gEFORCE 2 MX/MX400 which is the model of my card. Could they be wrong anyway ?

any other suggestion ?

Yes this is all right but

what do you have under section driver

nv or nvidia ??
because it dos not meter which video card you have listed under name important it is which video driver do you use !
if you have nv you have a generic video driver so install the nvidia package

found out what my problem was

i tough it was only thru vnc, but when i tried to log in locally i had the same problem...so vnc wasnt the problem

i diseabled my firewall (iptables) and it worked like a charm

so i reactivated my firewall and added this rule:

iptables -I INPUT 1 -i lo -j ACCEPT

saved my config and now its works flawlessly

thank you
