VNC - Where is the graphics processing done, on client or server?

I want to use TightVNC on Linux to display a KDE desktop to VNC clients, do I have to have a super duper graphics card in my server, or is it down to the VNC client to process the graphics?

As servers don't usually come with amazing graphics cards, I'm kinda hoping its down to the clients.
