VNC/Fedora 6
I have a linux box in my office as well as a windows box. I have tried setting up the vnc server on the linux box so that I can hit it from my windows box. I have not had much luck at all, while I have been able to hit it I get something that reminds me of a commador 64 terminal. Is there some other piece of software that I need to install that will allow me to see my linux desktop inside the vnc viewer on my windows machine?
Thank you, JK |
What form of VNC are you running on the windows box?
|
I downloaded and installed the free version of the vnc viewer.
Thanks, JK |
There are probably a dozen different ones, which one?
|
The executable is vnc-4_1_2-x86_win32_viewer.exe I downloaded it from the real vnc site at http://www.realvnc.com.
Hope that's helpful, JK |
Not sure but it may have something to do with the program. Its is currently on version 4.3 and you appear to be running 4.1.2.

lazlow,
I figured out what the issue is. I never changed the window manager from the default one which is "tmw". I install fluxbox and restarted the vncserver and the window is much better. Although, I don't know much about the configuration of fluxbox so, I would greatly appreciate it if you had some good places to go get very basic instructions or tutorials. Anyway thank you for taking the time to help. Jeff |
