VNC and LDAP question

I have a general question about VNC:

If I have a linux box that uses LDAP for user log in then install a VNC server. When I log in with a VNC viewer, will it look up the user info from LDAP and allow LDAP users to log on?

Last time I checked, VNC doesn't use user logins, only a local vncpasswd file... Where do you expect to use the user account? you could run gdm within a vnc session and that could generically hook into the pam architecture and in turn, ldap. alternatively a nice solution like freenx could do it. vnc in itself, no. i think.
