VMware + sound (/dev/dsp busy)
Do you have sound when running VMware in KDE/Gnome etc. ?
I'm really interested because I don't. I've used VMWare Workstation 4.5.2 for just 2 days but when I start my virtual WinXP I receive this error : .../dev/dsp is busy, so no sound... Well I'm running arts (ALSA,kernel 2.6.10), but I don't want to disable it - I really need it. Is there a way to make my VM be able to play sounds ? Without it my Windows installation is useless, because the point in it for me is to run language stuff, where sound is important. So I decided to participate in beta-testing VMWare Workstation 5, I though that maybe VMWare works now without problems - arts is not new,it's been around for a few years!(I mean that VMWare Workstation should be long ago able to put sound through it) Also a disappointment - the same error. If you have sound on your Linux VMware, please let me know how did you manage to accomplish it ;) I'm running Debian unstable(yes, I know it's not officialy supported), kernel 2.6.10, artsd 1.3.2 (sound system ALSA). |
