Try Mike Weller's web site where he explains how he set up VMware with Mandrake 9.1:

I found the site helpful but at the end of the day I found VMware more trouble than it was worth. I have a couple of things that I can only do in Windows 98SE so when I have to do them I just log out and log into Windoze. Maybe when I get more memory I'll try it again!
