I use Fedora Core 5 and VMware Server runs the programs with very little but notice-able lags.

It's very smooth compared to wine and it is more cooperative with made-for-windows-softwares.

You are right, it's severly good handling windows things, normal i would say. The problem is when you have a wireless connection. I haven't found any information on how to tell vmware tools to use the wireless on the host. I'll open a thread if this is not the place to discuss this issue. Probably it isn't.
