Vmware networking with adsl?

Hi,

I'm using WinXP as my main VMWare machine. It connects to the Internet using adsl dialup.

Now, how do I enable my VMWare Guest OS to connect to the Internet too?

Can I use NAT networking, then let my Guest OS to connect to my WinXP and then to Internet? (Something like ICS) But if this is the case, I need to configure my VMWare network adapter to enable ICS?

Use VMNet8 as the Virtual Network Setting - this will share the hosts IP and you can connect to anything it can. No need for ICS on XP.

So I just edit the Guest OS settings's NIC to "Custom: Specify Virtual Network (VMnet8 NAT)"?

Then inside my Guest OS (Be it windows or linux), how do I configure the network settings?

Get them via DHCP - it will pick up an IP from a private address range (something like 192.168.254.129) - then ping your host and any external address, you should be able to see out ok.
