VMWare - Installing .iso (bootable CD) onto HD
Anyone,
I have a question regarding installing bootable CDs (.iso) onto my VMWare. I would like to install a few different bootable CDs into VMWare. Specifically, I want to add Auditor, BackTrack, etc. I am interested in many of the tools on these disks and would like to keep them in order on there own image. I am aware that I could get all of the tools and install them on Linux/Unix, but I want to used these Images as a base line. Does anyone know how I can install to the HD from those bootable CDs inside of VM? I have tried the simple GUI option "Install to HD" inside of Auditor. It works when you are simply installing it to the Physical Harddrive and wiping out everything else, but I have been unsucessful installing it the same way in VM. Any help, links, suggestions would be great. Thanks, 09-Sparky |
I had the same problem until I discovered Ubuntu Linux
I was having the same problem...trying several different distros of Linux in VMWare...most of which are bootable from the CD. I had problems installing the ISO to VMWare or wasn't even able to install the ISO for all the images I used except for Ubuntu. So, I'd suggest trying Ubuntu...I hope this helps! Good Luck!
